Illustrating complex Concepts

Information and Process Design:
A significant part of my work is learning complex processes and systems, gathering information from multiple sources, and then presenting the material visually in a way that will make sense to a user or stakeholder--and that maintains the informational integrity of the source material.
The work below shows the results of that process for several different disciplines.
Case studies with a deeper dive into my process are available for the Cengage and Barnes & Noble / Yuzu work.
-------------
Cengage Learning | Adaptive Learning System
Based on extensive written requirements from multiple stakeholders, I developed a visual representation of the learning methodology, the core of an adaptive learning tool for Arizona State University.
Below is the content cluster put into context as part of a lesson plan.

Bridge Software | Interface Redesign
Bridge builds and deploys tools for immigration attorneys. Their interface had been created by their engineers as the product evolved.
Below is the original header and then my redesign of the developer-created interface to increase density and clarity of information.

Microsoft Corporation | Office Developer Conference
Poster/brochure for Microsoft's Office Developer Conference. With over 83 courses and seven different tracks, creating a user guide for the event that illustrated all of the paths and sessions was daunting--so I looked for inspiration to one of the most effective pieces of information design ever: the London Tube Map.

Barnes & Noble Yuzu | Product Redesign
As Director of User Experience at Barnes & Noble's Yuzu product division, I managed a product redesign that maintained similar user experience over five device platforms. This is the diagram I created to help our team keep features and functions aligned.
Part of my work at Yuzu involved moving features through the conception, design, and development process. I created this diagram to help align teams on timeline, tools, and functions.

Microsoft Corporation | Developer Resource Posters
I designed several complex posters for Microsoft developers to show the features of the Office system, OpenXML, SharePoint, and the SMS&P framework. I enjoyed visiting Microsoft for meetings and seeing these displayed in developers' workspaces.
These projects required interviewing development product managers in depth to make sure that the information presented was accurate and up to date (each of these went through multiple revisions as the product line evolved).
In addition to design and production, I managed the printing and fulfillment for these.
